2 PGCB officials to be suspended over grid failure: Nasrul
Two officials of the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) will be suspended temporarily over recent national grid failure.
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday. But he didn’t disclose the names and designations of the officials.
An official of the power ministry seeking anonymity said, the two PGCB officials hold the ranks of Deputy Assistant Engineer and Assistant Engineer.
On October 4, the national power transmission grid failed at 2:05pm - causing blackout across Bangladesh, except some parts of the north.
Following the grid failure, all power plants tripped one after another and electricity supply went off in Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal, and Mymensingh divisions.
