4 killed as bus hits van in Gazipur

Four people were killed as a bus hit a parked van on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Telipara area in Bason thana of Gazipur on Saturday. 

Of the deceased, three were identified as Borhan Uddin, 40, son of Abdul Kuddus of Harinakanda village in Phulpur upazila, Younus Ali, 35, son of Abdul Hamid of Swadeshi area in Haluaghat upazila and Sohrab, son of Nannu Miah of Gazipur. 

Md Alamgir Hosen, Deputy Commissioner (DC-traffic) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, said a bus of Basumoti Paribahan hit a parked fish-laden van around 8:30am in the area, leaving four of them dead on the spot.  

Khasru Khan, Officer-in-charge of Bason Police Station, said they seized the bus but its driver managed to flee away. Legal action is under process in this regard.
