Lightning kills 5 brickfield workers in Rangpur

Five brickfield workers were killed and another was injured in lightning strikes in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were Shahadat, 25, son of Al Amin, Rashedul, 24, son of Aytal, and Siam, 20, son of Sirul, residents of Chaknadi village, and Nazmul, 18, son of Badsha Mia, a resident of Dhaperhat Tilakpara village in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha district, and Jabber, son of Abdul Jalil, a resident of Chaksholagari village in Pirganj upazila in the district.

Kabil union parishad chairman Robiul Islam said the incident took place in BTC intersection area and all the deceased worked at a brickfield in Chaksholagari village.

Pirganj Police Station officer in-charge Abdul Awal said police were sent to the spot.
