Five killed as microbus hits auto-rickshaw in Kanchpur

Five people were killed as a microbus rammed a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Kanchpur area of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nuruddin, 45, son of Shamsuddin, a resident of Kanchpur area, Jamal Hossain, 40, a barber by profession, the auto-rickshaw passengers Md Hanif, 30, and Md Mamun, 31, and an unidentified garments worker aged around 36.

Kanchpur Highway Police Station officer in-charge Nabir Hossain said a microbus hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw near Kanchpur bridge on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway this morning, leaving five hurt. 

Of the injured, one died at Al Baraqa Hospital in Modanpur area and the rest four were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, he said.

DMCH police camp in-charge inspector Md Bachchu Mia said four people who received injuries in an accident in Kanchpur area were brought to the facility.

The on-duty doctors there declared three dead, and the rest, later, died while undergoing treatment.
