6 killed as bus hits microbus in Tangail
Six people were killed and at least 40 others injured after a bus hit a microbus in Tangail on Thursday.
The accident took place near the east side of Bangabandhu Bridge around 12:30pm.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Md Rafiqul Islam, Assistant Security and Safety Manager of the bridge authority, confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Safiqur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge East Police Station, said a bus of Ekata Paribahan was going to Dhaka from Rajshahi. The bus lost control when it reached east roundabout area of the bridge and hit the North Bengal-bound microbus, leaving six people killed on the spot and injured at 40 others.
The OC also said, the dead bodies were recovered from the spot. The injured people were sent to Tangail General Hospital. Most of them are in critical condition.
