Power trouble in eastern region solves: Nasrul
Power trouble in the eastern region was solved and the rest areas will be soon restored as engineers-technicians of both Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) are working on it.
"There was a problem in the transmission line. The trouble in the eastern region has already been solved, but the power supply will be normalized within the shortest time," State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told BSS on Tuesday evening.
He said that the power supply has been normalised in several areas and the rest are also being solved but there is still trouble in Dhaka-Tongi area.
The state minister said smooth electricity supply is being restored gradually across the country.
"Due to the national grid failure, people of many areas of Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet and Cumilla areas are not getting electricity since 2.05pm today," BPDB director (Public Relation) Shameem Hasan said.
He said that the National Power Transmission grid failed at noon-causing blackout across the country's major parts, except some parts of the north.
The spokesman of BPDB said that engineers of both BPDB and PGCB were trying their best to restore electricity transmission.
Following the grid failure, electricity supply went off in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barisal and Mymensingh divisions, they said.
