Testimony against Nazmul Huda for filing fake case on Oct 30

A court in Dhaka on Monday fixed October 30 for the testimony in a case against former communications minister Nazmul Huda lodged by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over filing fake case against former Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha, reports BSS.

Today was fixed for the testimony in the case. As judgment of the appeal challenging the validity of the ACC case was pending in the Appellate Division, the defence pleaded for time over Huda's poor health ground.

Accepting the time plea, Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman of Special Judge Court-9 fixed the date afresh.

Nazmul Huda filed a case against former Chief Justice SK Sinha with Shahbagh Police Station on September 27 in 2018, for allegedly demanding bribe from him and changing the judgment of a graft case which had already been disposed of.

The ACC after probing the case for one and a half years, found the allegations baseless and false, and filed the case against Nazmul Huda on February 20, 2020.

The ACC submitted charge sheet against Huda at Dhaka Senior Special Judge court on 7 October in 2021. Charges were framed against him on 6 April this year.
