476 killed in 407 road accidents in September: RSF

At least 476 people were killed and 794 others injured in 407 road accidents across the country in September this year. Of them, 169 were killed in 182 motorcycle accidents. Of the total deceased, 62 were women and 77 were children.

The Road Safety Foundation (RSF) on Monday published a report in this regard. The report was made based on the news published on nine national newspapers, seven online news portals and electronic media. 

At least 103 pedestrians, 62 students, 14 teachers and 63 drivers and their helpers were killed in the accidents during the time. Apart from, at least 23 people were killed and 37 others injured in 29 road accidents in Dhaka, the report said.

In the meantime, 78 were also killed and three went missing in nine waterways accidents while 19 died and six were injured in 21 train accidents.

The average daily death on road was 16.74 in August with 519 people killed and some 961 injured in 458 road accidents. The daily average slightly reduced to 15.86 in September as a result of which the death toll decreased by 5.25%, the report added.
