First namaz-e-janaza of Toab Khan held

The first namaz-e-janaza of Ekushey Padak winning veteran journalist and Dainik Bangla Editor Toab Khan was held at the office of Dainik Bangla and Newsbangla24.com. His colleagues and relatives were present during this time.  

Later, his body was taken to the Central Shaheed Minar. His body will be kept at Jatiya Press Club premises from 1pm to 1:30pm where the second janaza will be held.

He will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard after third janaza at Gulshan’s Azad mosque.

On Saturday, Toab Khan died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital. He was 87.

He had long been suffering from various old age complications.

Born on April 24, 1934 in Satkhira, the eminent journalist debuted his journalism career in 1955.

He was the press secretary to the then Prime Minister and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman between 1973 and 1975.

Toab Khan also served as the chief information officer and director general of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).

He was the advisory editor of Daily Janakantha till last October from its inception. Later, he joined as the editor of Dainik Bangla after it was published under a new shape and management.
