Lightning killed 2 farmers in Habiganj

Two farmers were killed in lightning strikes in Baniachong upazila of Habiganj district on Saturday morning.

The deceased were Nur Uddin, 45, and Abdul Karim, 55, residents of Majlishpur village in the upazila.

Locals said thunderbolts struck the two farmers while working in a waterbody beside Majlishpur village around 9:30 am, leaving them dead on the spot.

Baniachong Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Padmasan Singh confirmed the incident.

The upazila administration will give Tk 20,000 to the families of the victims each, he added.
