Three get life for gang-raping 2 girls in Dhaka

A court in Dhaka on Thursday convicted three people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for gang-raping two girls in Kadamtali area of capital Dhaka in 2020.

The lifers are Md Sohel Bepari, Rana Bepari and Md Akter Ali. Another accused in the case Sajal (absconding) was acquitted from charges as he was found not guilty. 

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-3, Dhaka judge Zulfikar Hayat pronounced the verdict. The judge also fined the lifers Tk 1 lakh each, in default, they will have to serve in jail six months more. 

The case statement said the accused gang-raped the two girls in their house at Noakhali Patti under Kadamtali Police Station on October 8, 2020.

Later, a case was lodged with the police station in this connection.
