Age limit relaxed for govt jobs again

The government has again decided to extend the age limit for government jobs by 39 months due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Ministry of Public Administration (MoPA) issued a notice in this regard on Thursday.

All concerned ministries were requested to take necessary measures over the matter.

According to the notice, the applicants, who reached the age of 30 on 25 March, 2020, will be eligible to get the benefit from this waiver.

However, this will not be applicable for the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examinations, the notice added.

MoPA said that the ministries, departments and its subordinate offices, which could not call for recruitment due to the pandemic, must set the age limit of candidates as of 25 March 2020, for all recruitment calls to be published by 30 June next year.

The government increased the age limit by five months in the first phase of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

On August 19, 2021, the age-limit for all government jobs was extended by another 21 months.

At present the age limit for entry into government service is 30 years, which is 32 years for the children of freedom fighters.
