Justice Shamsuddin Manik-led board resigns from Evaly

Former Justice HM Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik-led five-member board of Evaly appointed by the High Court has resigned from the e-commerce platform.

Other board members are former Local Government Division secretary Mohammad Rezaul Ahsan, former additional secretary Mahbub Kabir Milon, chartered accountant Fakhruddin Ahmed and company act expert lawyer barrister Khan Mohammad Shamim Aziz.

The resignation letter will be presented before court on Wednesday, Evaly managing director and former additional secretary Mahbub Kabir Milon said on Tuesday.

"We have stepped down. We will uphold the matter in court tomorrow (Wednesday) and then, will provide detailed information," he said.

Earlier on August 24, the High Court asked the authorities concerned to include Evaly's former chairman Shamima Nasin, her mother Farida Talukder, and brother-in-law Mamunur Rashid in the new board of directors for the e-commerce platform.  

The HC also directed to keep an official from the Commerce Ministry whose position is not under joint secretary and a representative from the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh. 

After the formation of the fresh board of directors, the High Court-formed board members can resign the HC gave them this freedom.

It was learned that Shamima, her mother, and her brother-in-law might be included in the new Evaly board of directors on Thursday.
