Former SP Babul files complaint against PBI chief

Former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akter filed a complaint against the Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court against six police officials, including PBI chief Banaj Kumar Majumdar, claiming that they tortured him during his custody under the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in 2021.

Appealing to file a case, Babul registered the complaint with Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Dr Begum Jebunnes’s court claiming that they had tortured him so that he (Babul) gave the confessional statement in his wife’s murder case.

The court fixed the appeal for a hearing on September 19.

The accused are PBI chief Banaj Kumar Majumder, Chattogram district unit SP Nazmul Hasan, Chattogram metro unit SP Naima Sultana, PBI former inspector Santosh Kumar Chakma, AKM Mohiuddin Salim, and inspector Kazi Enayet Kabir.

Confirming the matter, the plaintiff's lawyer Kofil Uddin said that Babul was tortured at PBI Chattogram Metro and District Office from 10-17 May last year.

Babul Akter's wife Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was shot and hacked to death by miscreants in the GEC intersection area of Chattogram city On June 5, 2016.
