Install CCTV at launch: Minister

Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan on Wednesday urged owners of all the passenger vessels to set up closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and metal detectors to tighten security at all launch terminals.

In the wake of the recent attacks in the country, Minister Shahjahan urged the authorities concerned to take steps as soon as possible to ensure safety of passengers.

He made the call while inaugurating a new launch, MV Parabat 12, at Sadarghat launch terminal in the capital around 11:30am.

The new launch will run on the Dhaka-Barisal route, Shajahan Khan said.

Owners of different launches and government officials among others were also attended the programme.
