Govt cuts launch fares by 15 paisa

The government has lowered the launch fares by 15 paisa following the reduction in fuel oil prices.
Besides, the minimum fare has been set at Tk 30 from Tk 33. The new fares will come into effect from 12 midnight.
The Ministry of Shipping on Thursday issued a notification fixing the fresh launch fares.
State-owned news agency BSS reported that commuters will now have to pay Tk 2.85 per kilometre instead of Tk 3 for the first 100 kilometres and Tk 2.45 per kilometre for distances above 100 kilometres.
Earlier in the last month, the Ministry of Shipping increased the launch fare by 30% following the highest fuel price hike in 20 years on 5 August.
