Govt reduces bus fare by 5 paisa per kilometer

The government has lowered the bus fare by 5 paisa per kilometer following the reduction in the prices of fuel oil. 

The Bangladesh Toad Transport Authority (BRTA) took the decision in a meeting with the transport sector leaders and bus owners at its head office in the capital of Dhaka's Banani area on Wednesday.

According to the decision, now bus fares in the cities decreased to Tk 2.45 from Tk 2.50 while long-haul bus fare is Tk 2.15, previously which was Tk 2.20.

Besides, the minimum bus fares were fixed at Tk 10 and the least minibus fares set at Tk 8.

Road Transport and Highways Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri, BRTA Director (Administration) Md Azizul Islam, Director (Operation) Md Lokman Hossain Molla, Director (Engineering) Shitangshu Shekhar Bishwas, Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Secretary General Khandaker Enayet Ullah, different transport owners, Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB) representatives, and transport workers' leaders were present at the meeting.

Earlier on August 29, the government issued a gazette notification reducing the prices of all kinds of fuel oil by Tk 5 per liter.
