IGP asked to submit report on seized vehicles at police stations
The High Court (HC) has asked the inspector general of police (IGP) to submit a full report within the next six months on how the seized vehicles at police stations or courts are being maintained.
Alongside, the court issued a rule seeking to know why bad management of the seized things should not be declared illegal.
The secretary to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the secretary to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the inspector general of police (IGP), the commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), and others concerned have been asked to respond to the rule.
The HC bench of Justice Md Mozibur Rahman Miah and Justice Kazi Md Ijarul Haque Akondo passed the order on Tuesday after hearing a writ petition.
Earlier on Sunday, on behalf of five Supreme Court lawyers, advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir filed the writ petition with the High Court seeking fair management of the seized vehicles at the country's police stations or courts.
The five lawyers are Mohammad Noab Ali, Md Muzahedul Islam, Mostafizur Rahman, GM Muzahidur Rahman, and Imrul Kayes.
