5 ‘ABT men’ charged over Washiqur killing case

A Dhaka court on Wednesday framed charges against five suspected members of banned militant outfit ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ over the blogger Washiqur Rahman Babu killing case.

Judge of Additional Metropolitan Session Court-3 of Dhaka SM Ziaur Rahman framed the charges and fixed August 4 for starting the trial.

The accused are - M Jikullah alias Hasan, Ariful Islam alias Mushfiq, M Saiful Islam, M Akram Hossian Habib alias Abdullah and Junayed alias Taher.

Blogger Washiqur Rahman Babu, 26, who was also an employee of Far East Travels Ltd, was stabbed by a group of assailants, near South Begunbari Jame Mosque under Tejgaon Industrial police station on March 30, 2015.

Police rescued injured Washiqur and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
