Half-day hartal ends peacefully
The half-day hartal, enforced by the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA) protesting the price hike of daily essentials, fuel and fertiliser as well as transport fares, ended on Thursday peacefully.
Despite hartal, the vehicular movement was normal in the capital.
The leaders and activists of the leftist organizations took to the street in Paltan intersection. They also held a gathering there.
However, leftist leaders claimed that their five leaders and activists were detained and 10-12 others injured.
Coordinator of the alliance and General Secretary of Bangladesher Communist Party Ruhin Hossain Prince said most of the people of Bangladesh have supported the hartal.
The government is in power by looting and allowing looters to loot, said Prince adding that they will announce programme like blockade.
Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Basad) General Secretary Bazlur Rashid Firoz said the leaders of LDA have observed the hartal across the country. Police and ruling party’s terrorists attacked on our leaders and activists and some leaders were also detained.
CPB Vice President Mihir Ghosh, Basad Assistant General Secretary Razekuzzaman Ratan, Basad (Marxist) leader Masud Rana and United Communist League of Bangladesh leader Abdus Sattar were also present among others during the gathering.
