Verdict in graft case against Hallmark Chairman on Aug 28
The hearing on the rule issued questioning the bail of Hallmark Group Chairman Jasmine Islam in a case lodged over embezzlement of Taka 85.8 crore from Janata Bank through a fake letter of credit (LC) ended on Monday.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat fixed August 28 for the verdict after the hearing.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Senior Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan was present in the court during the hearing.
On March 10, 2019, the High Court granted her bail in the graft case.
The ACC filed an appeal against the order. After hearing, the appeal the Appellate Division cancelled her bail and asked her to surrender within a month on June 16 the same year.
Jasmine, also the wife of Hallmark Group Managing Director Tanvir Mahmud, surrendered to the lower court and pleaded for a bail petition to the High Court.
The High Court then issued a rule over her bail.
