Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Saturday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over the country, reports BSS.

"Light to moderate rain or showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," said a met office release here today.

The ongoing mild heat wave is likely to continue in Sylhet division, the release said.

Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, it said.

However, the day temperature may rise by 1-2 degree Celsius over southern part and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country, while the night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius at Sylhet while the minimum temperature today was 24.8 degrees Celsius at Teknaf.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 50 mm at Mongla.

The sun sets at 6.28 pm today and rises at 5.36 am tomorrow in the capital.
