AL leader stabbed dead in Jatrabari

A local Awami League leader was stabbed to death by the miscreants in Jatrabari area of the capital of Dhaka on Tuesday night.

Deceased Md Abu Bakr Siddique Habu, 38, was a unit AL president.

A few people, including Fahim, stabbed Abu Bakr on Shaheed Faruk Sarak around 7 pm, leaving him critically injured, said the victim's maternal cousin Md Mithu.

Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctors declared him dead, he said.

Hailed from Narda village under Damudda Police Station in Shariatpur district, Abu Bakr was a raw material trader and lived in Tanbazar area of Jatrabari, Mithu added.

DMCH Police Camp in-charge inspector Md Bachchu Mia said the body was kept at the facility morgue, and the police station concerned was informed about the incident.
