2 killed as terrorists open fire in Ukhyia Rohingya camp

Two Rohingya leaders were killed in firing by terrorists in Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday midnight. 

The incident took place on the hill slope of C-9 Block of Camp 15. 

The deceased were identified as Abu Taleb, Head Majhi of C block of camp 15, son of Abdur Rahim and Syed Hossain, Majhi of C/9 sub-block, son of Imam Hossain. 

Md Kamran Hossain, Additional Superintendent (media) of Armed Police Battalion-8, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Wednesday morning. 

He said, 8-10 terrorists opened fire on them over pre-enmity in front of the Achia Begum’s shed and fled away. After being informed by local Rohingyas, police rushed to the spot and sent the injured duo to Jamtoli MSF Hospital where Syed Hossain was declared dead by the on-duty doctor. Later, Abu Taleb was referred to Kutupalong Hospital and he died there while undergoing treatment. 

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-charge of Ukhyia Police Station, said police recovered the dead bodies and sent those to Cox’s Bazar Hospital morgue. A case filing is underway.

However, police officer Kamran said they were conducting operation in the camp to arrest the killers.
