BCSIR develops kit for Covid test
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) has developed a RT-PCR kit for detecting the Coronavirus.
This is the first time that a domestic organization has developed the kit to detect the virus.
The information was confirmed at a press conference at the BCSIR’s auditorium in the capital’s Science Lab on Sunday.
The price of the kit will be Tk 250 after it comes to the market.
The Directorate General of Drug Administration has already given approval to the BCSIR for production of the kit. Apart from, Bangladesh Medical Research Council has also give ethical clearance to the organization.
BCSIR said, it has developed the kit in cooperation with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and Dhaka University. The kit is more effective than the imported kit. It can detect even the smallest number of viruses. As a result, the presence of the virus will be known before the symptoms of the disease appear.
