Bus owners want to increase fares; meeting with BRTA in afternoon
Bus owners want to increase the fare due to the price hike of fuel oil in the country.
They will hold a meeting with Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) in this regard at 5pm on Saturday.
Khandaker Enayet Ullah, Secretary General of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners’ Association, said the government has increased the price of fuel oil in the country by an average of 50 percent. The cost of operating buses has increased due to this. So, it is necessary to adjust the bus fare.
It is to be noted that, the government on Friday night announced that it had raised all fuel oil prices, which came into effect on Saturday.
Now the price of diesel and kerosene per litre at the consumer level is Tk114, octane Tk135, and petrol Tk130.
The government announced the hike at a time when oil prices in the international market are on a downward trend.
