Two Covid deaths, 253 cases recorded in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government reported two COVID-19 deaths and 253 cases in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of fatalities rose to 29,302 and infections stood at 20,06,899. 

The Directorate General of Health Services said this in a press release on Friday.

The new cases were found after testing 5,002 samples in the past day.

During the period, 933 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total recoveries to 19,46,762.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 587,029,656 people and killed 6,431,243 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 557,103,003 across the world.
