Two Covid deaths, 278 cases recorded in 24 hrs
The Bangladesh government reported two COVID-19 deaths and 278 cases in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total number of fatalities rose to 29,300 and infections stood at 20,06,646.
The Directorate General of Health Services said this in a press release on Thursday.
The new cases were found after testing 5,404 samples in the past day.
During the period, 741 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total recoveries to 19,45,829.
Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020.
The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.
To date, the epidemic infected 585,625,603 people and killed 6,428,444 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.
However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 556,170,407 across the world.
