Writ seeks judicial inquiry into accidents at rail-crossings
A writ petition has been filed with the High Court seeking its directives to conduct a judicial inquiry into the accidents at rail-crossings across the country.
Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Tapos Kanti Bol filed the writ petition on Wednesday.
The writ also sought financial compensation for the families of the victims who were killed in separate train accidents recently occurred in Chattogram’s Mirsharai and Gopalganj.
Secretaries to the Home Ministry, Law Ministry and Railway Ministry were made respondents to the writ.
Barrister Tapos himself confirmed the matter to Jago News.
On July 29, eleven people were killed after a train hit a microbus at Khoiyachhora waterfall area in Mirsharai upazila of Chattogram district. In this incident, the railway authority suspended gateman Saddam Hossain temporarily and the court sent him to the jail.
Earlier on July 21, five constructions workers were killed after being hit by a train named “Tungipara Express” at Kagdi rail crossing area in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj.
