5 killed as bus collides with auto-rickshaw in Gazipur

Five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw at Makishbathan area in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur around 11pm on Saturday. 

The deceased were identified as Nazrul Islam, auto-rickshaw driver, son of Ayub Ali of Tangail, Mehedi Hasan Bablu, son of Momin Uddin Sikder of Barguna, Atikul Islam, son of late Azim Uddin of Gazipur, Saidul Islam Rubel, son of Babul Miah and Shahin Uddin, son of Ataur Rahman of Jashore. 

Police said, a bus of Itihas Paribahan collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving the auto-rickshaw driver and one of its passengers dead on the spot and three others injured. Local people rushed the injured to Kaliakair Upazila Health Complex, Sheikh Fajilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Hospital and Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared them dead. 

Rahat Akand, Sub Inspector of Kaliakair Police Station, said they sized the killer bus but its driver managed to flee away. Legal action is in process.
