2 to die over Jessore physician murder

A court of Jessore on Tuesday sentenced two people to death for murder of a physician in 2009.

The convicts are Ashiqur Rahman Bablu, 40, son of Rajob Ali and Saiful Islam Zakir, 36, son of Miratul Haque, both are hailing from Noapara area in Jessore.

According to the prosecution, Dr Shafiqul Islam, owner of Jess clinic in the town was hacked to death by miscreants on July 29, 2009.

Following the day, Abdus Salam father of Dr Shafiq filed a case against four people with Jessore Sadar Police Station in this connection.

After examining all witnesses and records, Special Tribunal Judge Nitai Chandra Saha handed down the verdict where two have got acquittal as charge against them couldn’t prove.
