Six killed as bus rams auto-rickshaw in Barishal

Six people were killed and another was injured as a bus rammed a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Bakerganj upazila of Barishal district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Amir Chowdhury, 60, a resident of Ward No. 9, Md Hasib, 25, of Ward No. 6 under Bakerganj municipality, Sathi Akter, 22, wife of Faisal Hossain, of Gauranadi upazila, her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter Farhana, Tanzila Begum, 40, of Dumki upazila of Patuakhali, and Md Shohag, 24, driver of the auto-rickshaw.

Bakerganj Police Station officer in-charge Md Alauddin Milon told Jago News that a bus of BRTC hit a battery-run auto-rickshaw in front of Bakerganj Fire Service station on the Barishal-Kuakata Highway around 12:15 pm, leaving four people dead on the spot and three others injured, 

Later, the injured were rushed to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barishal where two succumbed to their injuries.
