900 Covid cases, 4 deaths recorded in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government reported 900 more Coronavirus cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of infections increased to 19,96,340 and the fatalities stood at 29,234. 

The Directorate General of Health Services said this in a press release on Sunday.

The new cases were found after testing 8,091 samples in the past day.

During the period, 1,983 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total recoveries to 19,24,960.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 567,336,966 people and killed 6,387,222 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 538,409,088 across the world.
