Woman, niece killed as bus rams auto-rickshaw

A woman and her niece were killed and two others injured as a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Tangail district on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Moushumi, 35, the daughter of Kuddus, a resident of Kathuajari village in Naldanga upazila of Natore district, and her niece daughter Riya Moni, 5, daughter of Jaul of Tengkimari village in Jamalpur district.

Tangail General Hospital Police Outpost in-charge assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Nabin confirmed the incident.

He said a bus of 'SA Paribahan' rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Rabna Bypass area on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway, leaving child Riya dead on the spot and three others, including Moushumi, injured.

The locals rushed critically injured Moushumi to a hospital where the on-duty doctor declared her dead, the ASI added.
