4 killed as bus collides head-on with auto-rickshaw in Tangail

Four people have been killed in a head-on collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw in Tangail.

The accident took place on Joydebpur-Tangail-Jamalpur highway in front of Baniajan bus stand at Dhanbari upazila around 11:45pm on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Babul Karmakar, 50, the auto-rickshaw driver, son of Prankrishna Karmakar, Hasan Miah, 19, son of Bajlul Miah, Md Saiful Islam, 22, son of Shahid Miah and his brother Mridul Hasan, 15. They all were the residents of Jamalpur.  

Chan Miah, Officer-in-charge of Dhanbari Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound bus collided head-on with the Jamalpur-bound auto-rickshaw in the area. At that time, Babul and Saiful died on the spot. Mridul and Hasan were also injured critically and sent to Dhanbari Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead. 

The OC said the deceased were recovered from the spot and handed over to their respective family members.
