Savar teacher murder: Zitu confesses to crime
Schoolboy Ashraful Ahsan Zitu, who is the prime accused in the murder case of Savar teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker, has confessed to the crime.
He gave his confessional statement in Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday after police had produced him before the court following the completion five-day remand.
Later, Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Razib Hasan recorded his statement and ordered to send him to jail.
Dhaka Chief Judicial Magistrate Court's additional public prosecutor Anwarul Kabir Bablu confirmed the matter.
Earlier on June 25, Ashraful Ahsan Zitu, a 10th grader at Haji Yunus Ali School and College at Ashulia in Savar on the outskirts of Dhaka allegedly beat up his teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker with cricket stump, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he succumbed to his injuries on June 26.
After the case filing, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested Zitu from Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on June 29.
Ashim Kumar Sarker, elder brother of the deceased, lodged a case against Zitu and some unknown people with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
Utpal Kumar Sarker was a lecturer in the Political Science department of the college branch of Haji Yunus Ali School and College in Ashulia area and president of the disciplinary committee of the institution.
