1998 more Covid cases, 7 deaths recorded in 24 hrs

The Bangladesh government reported 1,998 more Coronavirus cases and seven deaths in the last 24 hours.

With this, the total number of infections increased to 19,82,972 and the fatalities stood at 29,181. 

The Directorate General of Health Services said this in a press release on Tuesday.

The new cases were found after testing 11,932 samples in the past day.

During the period, 494 more patients recovered from the illness, taking the total recoveries to 19,09,273.

Bangladesh, however, first reported its coronavirus cases on March 8, 2020. 

The virus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan in December 2019 and then it spread to other countries.

To date, the epidemic infected 555,346,544 people and killed 6,362,688 across the globe, according to Worldometer, a website that compiles the number of new coronavirus cases and deaths from it.

However, the total number of people who recovered from the virus reached 530,108,797 across the world.
