The Embassy of Bangladesh, in cooperation with the first multilingual library in Greece “We Need Books”, successfully organized a screening of the documentary film “Hasina: A Daughter’s Tale”. Held at the library premises in the evening of 3 July 2022 the screening was attended by a good number of Bangladeshi community people, students, Embassy officials, members of the diplomatic corps and the local civil society.
The maiden screening of the docu-film in a country like Greece, known as the cradle of ancient and western civilization, created a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity among the audience about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her extended family members and their role in the making of a modern, democratic and secular developing nation.
They were particularly amazed to have seen how the Bangladesh Prime Minister and daughter of the country’s Founding Father tried to cope with her most struggling time along with her only other surviving sister Sheikh Rehana following the brutal assassination of their father and all other members of their family. The relentless efforts imbued with strong commitment and selfless determination of the Prime Minister for completing the unfinished works of her father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to turn the country into golden Bengal has captured the imagination of the audience.
The screening of the film was preceded by a short welcoming speech of the Founder of the multilingual library Mrs. Ioanna Nissiriou. While making his remarks the Bangladesh Ambassador Ashud Ahmed thanked the viewers for joining the screening of the documentary film organized as part of Embassy’s ongoing celebrations of the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh. He hoped that Bangladesh would become a real golden Bengal that would have prosperity, modernity, inclusivity, democracy and secularism as designed in the Vision-2041 under the able and dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Ambassador mentioned about his Embassy’s planning for organizing more such screening in different corners of Greece in the coming days.
