Father of Savar teacher murder accused remanded

A court in Dhaka on Wednesday put Uzzal, father of the schoolboy accused in the Savar teacher murder case, on a five-day remand.

The court of Dhaka Judicial Magistrate Sheikh Muzahidul Islam passed the order after police had produced him before the court, seeking a 10-day remand.

Earlier on Tuesday night, police arrested Uzzal, also an accused in the lawsuit, from Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia district.

Ashraful Ahsan Zitu, 16, the 10th grader at Haji Yunus Ali School and College at Ashulia in Savar, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka, allegedly beat up his teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker with cricket stump on Saturday, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, he succumbed to his injuries early Monday.

Ashim Kumar Sarker, elder brother of the deceased, lodged a case against Zitu and some unknown people with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
