A new sub-variant of coronavirus Omicron variant has been detected in the country.

A team of researchers at the genome center of Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) detected the new sub-variant named BA.4/5.

JUST assistant director (public relations) Abdur Rashid confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday.

Two people, who are in their 79 and 44 respectively, caught the new sub-variant, he said.

Of the infected, one received three doses of coronavirus vaccine while another took two jabs, he added.

Earlier on January 24 this year, the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) disclosed the information of finding coronavirus Omicron variant in the country.
