2 Rohingyas killed as covered van hits auto-rickshaw

Two Rohingya people were killed and four others injured as a covered van hit an auto-rickshaw on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf highway at Techchibridge area in Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Amir Hamza, 50, son of late Abdul Gafur and Ismat Ara Begum, 10, daughter of Md Idris of Unpraching 22 No. Rohingya camp. 

The identities of the injured could not be known immediately.

According to local source, two Rohingya people died on the spot and four others injured after a covered van ran over an auto-rickshaw in the area around 8am. The injured people were taken to different hospitals. 

Whykong Highway Police Outpost In-charge Md Jahangir Alam said the dead bodies were recovered from the spot. Police seized the vehicles and the process is on to file a case.
