The shops, shopping malls, markets, and groceries will remain shut after 8 pm every day from Monday across the country in an effort to save power and fuel.

But kitchen markets will stay open after 8 pm.

The decision was taken in a meeting held at the Ministry of Labor and Employment on Sunday.

Presided over by State Minister for Labor and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian, the representatives from Dhaka North, and South City Corporation, Employers Federation, FBCCI, MCCI, BGMEA, BKMEA, Bangladesh Shop Owners Association, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce, different business owners organizations and labor unions, and ones from commerce, power, and industry ministries attended the meeting

After the meeting, Monnujan said, "We all agreed that compliance with Prime Minister's instruction will start from tomorrow (Monday)."

"Eid-ul-Azha on July 10, that is why the businesses representatives demanded to keep open (shops) to 10 pm from July 1 to 10," she said, adding, "We will send this proposal as summary to the Prime Minister's office."
