Three children among 5 killed in M'singh lightning

Five people, including three children, were killed in lightning strikes in two upazilas of Mymensingh district on Friday afternoon.

They were identified as Abu Bakr, 40, and Zahangir Alam, 30, residents of Dori Kushtia village in Sadar upazila, and Sayeed Mia, 12, son of Shahidullah, Swadhin Mia, 11, son of Hadis Mia, and Shawon, 8, of Kankerhati village in Nandail upazila.

Kotwali Police Station officer in-charge Shah Kamal Akanda, confirmed the death incident of two children.

Md Golap Hossain, the member of Gangail union under Nandail upazila, said thunderbolts hit three children around 2 pm when they went to a field to catch fish.

Among them, two were rushed to Nandail Upazila Health Complex and another to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital. Later, on-duty doctors at the facilities declared the trio dead.
