Dhaka-M’singh rail link suspended due to train derailment

Rail communication between Dhaka and Mymensingh remained suspended since Thursday morning as four bogies of a train derailed near Rajendrapur railway station in Gazipur.

Joydebpur Railway Police Sub Inspector Md Shahidul Islam confirmed the matter to Jago News.

He said four wheels of a bogie of Dhaka-bound Bhawal Express veered off the tracks around 9am. Later, three bogies of the train also derailed. 

“A number of trains, including Dhaka-bound commuter train and Mahua Express train got stranded at different railway stations following the derailment,” he said. 

The railway police officer also said they informed the matter to higher authority. The rescue operation will start after a rescue train reaches the spot from Dhaka.
