Kishoreganj boat capsize: 3 bodies recovered

The bodies of three people who went missing after a boat capsized in Itna Haor of Kishoreganj on Monday noon have been recovered.

The deceased were identified Md Masud Miah, 25, son of Md Mostofa, of Damihahati village at Damiha union in Tarail upazila, Siraj Uddin, 35, son of late Abdul Aziz, of Halgara village in Karimganj upazila and Wasim, 42, son of late Sawdagor of the same village.  

Md Kamrul Islam Molla, Officer-in-charge of Itna Police Station, confirmed the matter to Jago News on Tuesday. 

Police said, an engine-driven boat with five passengers on board was heading towards Dhanpur in Itna Upazila from Tarail Upazila. The boat sank in the middle of Sahila-Dhanpur Haor in Itna upazila due to severe storm on Monday noon. Two passengers of the boat managed to swim ashore but three others went missing.

On information, police and the diving team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence started rescue operation and recovered the bodies in the wreckage of the capsized boat around 9:30am on Tuesday.
