The rail communication between Dhaka and Sylhet was restored on Saturday afternoon, three and a half hours after it had been suspended.

The train services on Dhaka-Sylhet-Akhaura route became normal around 4:40, said Shamshernagar Stationmaster Md Jamal Uddin.

Earlier at about 1 pm, three bogies of a train of Sylhet-bound 'Parabat Express' caught fire in Kamalganj upazila of Moulvibazar.

Being informed, four units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence went to the spot and doused the blaze after around two hours of frantic efforts.

However, no casualties were reported and the causes of the fire could not be known.

Jamal Uddin said Moulvibazar district administration formed a seven-member body over the fire incident.

The committee has been asked to submit report within seven working days.
