Tipu murder: Main accused Musa brought back home
A team of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police has brought Suman Sikdar alias Musa, the suspected main planner of Awami League (AL) leader Zahidul Islam Tipu murder, back home from Oman.
A flight carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel division) Shahidur Rahman Ripon led the team.
The other members of the team are Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Rafiqul Islam and Assistant Police Superintendent Mohammad Foyez Uddin.
In this connection, top police official Shahidur said Bangladesh police started trying to detain Musa from Dubai with assistance of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Being informed, he left Dubai and went to Oman. Later, he was traced by Oman police and brought back home from there.
On the night of 24 March, Tipu, who was on a microbus, and Samia Afrin, a 22-year-old college student, who was returning home on a rickshaw, were killed in firing in front of Amtala masjid area in Shahjanhanpur in the capital.
Tipu was a former general secretary of the Awami League Motijheel thana unit and Priti was a student of Begum Badrunnesa Government College. Tipu’s driver was also injured in the firing.
A total of 12 people were arrested in this sensational murder case. Among them, two gave confessional statements before the court.
