Govt official caught red-handed with Tk 80000 bribe

The Anti-Corruption Corruption has caught red-handed a government official along with around Tk 80,0000 bribe in Dinajpur district.

Detained Mostafizur Rahman is the deputy inspector general of the Inspection for Factories and Establishments Department (DIFE), Dinajpur.

Sources in ACC Dinajpur integrated district office said Mostafizur asked Md Rasheduzzaman Russel, a senior executive of Ishan Agro Food at Ambari in Chirirbandar Upazila, to meet him on April 27 along with necessary papers and Tk 80,000 (bribe) when he went to DIFE office at Baluadanga in the district town on April 25 for license renewal. 

Not getting money, the official, later, informed Russel over the phone that a case will be filed against two people - Ishtiak and Ashraful - of his company, and told him to come to the office on May 23 along with the demanded money to get relief from the lawsuit.

On May 23, he met him with the necessary documents but the official misbehaved with him for not giving hush money.

Later, he complained to the ACC integrated district office against the official. 

On Wednesday afternoon, Russel went to Mostafizur with the papers and the sought money. At that time, the ACC team caught him red-handed with the bribe.

Confirming the detention, ACC deputy director Ahsanul Kabir said a case would be filed against Mostafizur Rahman.
