UP chairman's 10-year-old son hacked dead, wife injured
The 10-year-old son of a union parishad chairman in Faridpur district was hacked to death and his wife seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon.
Deceased Rafsan was the son of Mizan Boyati, chairman of Dheukhali Union Parishad under Sadarpur upazila and resident of Sadarpur upazila sadar.
Locals and police sources said Ershad, son of Sanu Molla, a resident of the same area, stormed the chairman's house around 4 pm and mercilessly hacked his wife Diljan Begum Ratna and son Rafsan, leaving them seriously injured
Hearing her scream, neighbours rescued the duo and rushed to Sadarpur Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared Rafsan dead.
Critically injured Ratna was, later, sent to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Locals said Mizan held several arbitrations over Ershad's torturing of his wife, and a few days ago, the couple got divorced.
He was angry with the chairman as the decision taken at the arbitrations went against his favour which led him to carry out the attack, they assume.
About, Md Shahid Sarder, a member of 8 No. ward under the UP, told Jago News that he was informed that Ershad committed the crime over the previous enmity.
Faridpur district police superintendent Md Jamal Pasha also confirmed the incident to Jago News. He said police were investigating the incident and will inform in this regard later.
Contacted Sadarpur Police Station officer in-charge Subrata Golder, he told Jago News that they will inform about this later.
