Suspension order of TTE Shafiqul withdrawn

The suspension order of Shafiqul Islam, a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) of the Pakshi Division of Bangladesh Railways, has been withdrawn.

Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager Shahidul Islam announced this at a press conference at Ishwardi Railway Junction in Pabna at 12pm on Sunday.

On Thursday night, Shafiqul Islam, TTE of the intercity train Sundarban Express, fined three passengers, who had introduced themselves as relatives of Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan, for travelling without tickets.

Later, Railways authorities suspended the TTE for “misbehaving with the passengers”.

On Saturday, Railways Minister told journalists that no relatives of mine were involved with the incident. I have no relationship with the passengers involved in the incident. Some opportunists have tried to take advantage by selling my name.

However, the divisional office of Bangladesh Railway’s west zone at Pakshi formed a three-member probe body to investigate the incident.

The committee led by Assistant Transport Officer (ATO) of Pakshi division Sajedul Islam has been asked to submit its report within three days.

Shafiqul Islam has also been given a show-cause notice in this regard.
